HOW IT WORKS

Bid4Hay.com is a simple hay classifieds and hay auction based service to bring hay buyers and hay sellers together and further
expand and broaden the geographic boundaries in the hay industry. With the ever
increasing need for hay and feed products it is important for buyers and sellers
to have a means and system design to help provide a process for price discovery
and price determination among a greater region and audience. By providing a broader
and widely accessible market for hay, buyers and seller alike can benefit financially
by increasing both supply and demand factors of the hay industry to a wider region;
thus, providing a more elastic demand for hay, thereby decreasing the variability in
price received for hay sellers and increasing availability of hay for buyers.
Using Bid4Hay.com's hay classifieds listing and hay auction listings will enhance sellers
exposure, while also providing a supply and demand driven hay marketplace that could
effectively enhance and create more value for the seller by allowing hay buyers to bid
on their product. Buyers will be able to perform a zip code search for nearby hay
for sale; as well as, search for quality attributes that they may desire such as
crude protein, ADF, NDF, TDN and/or RFV. By displaying data in sort-able columns
users can then sort for the lowest or highest values in the marketplace or within
a range that suite their needs. Once again creating a benefit for the buyer to find
the exact product they are looking for and a potentially higher dollar amount paid
to the seller.
Bid4Hay.com encourages sellers to quality test their hay prior to listing to help
buyers identify quality attributes they may be seeking and of course so the seller
can be paid premium on quality products.
Oklahoma State University data from 1992-1993
suggest this:
One % increase in protein.......................................................................$1.97/ton
increase in price
One unit increase in RFV ........................................................................$.22/ton
increase in price
One unit increase in ADF.........................................................................$1.03/ton
decrease in price
One unit increase in NDF.........................................................................$1.08/ton
decrease in price
One % increase in TDN...........................................................................$1.07/ton
increase in price

Although bale size and market structures have change in the last 10 years, this
data illustrates that quality tested hay can help to better establish premiums to
the seller and provide critical data to the buyer to better assist in ration formulations.
Quality testing is not required to list your hay, although Bid4Hay.com encourages
the testing of all hay listed, in order to create a more friendly and efficient
marketplace for the buying and selling of hay. Don't hesitate to list with Bid4Hay.com
today.
1. Sell all
your items on www.bid4hay.com; whether they sell from just a few dollars to several
millions of dollars www.bid4hay.com is the place to sell them. Run either a classified
advertisement or an auction. Hay is our specialty at www.bid4hay.com.
2. Online and Live Auctions are a special feature of www.bid4hay.com. Auctions are
a part of normal business for Farmers and with more exposure to the market better
prices can be achieved. Hay Auctions incur a success fee based on 5% of the successful
auction price and you can continue to relist with no fees.
3. Classified Ads are simple advertisements as seen every day in the print media.
A listing fee for some items is required and Classified Ads have a fixed price stated
at the time of listing.
4. When listing for either a Classified Ad or Auctions you must complete the necessary
documentation to successfully list items for sale. This data includes Hay Test forms
and documents for some items.
5. With an Auction, when the bidding reaches the reserve price a sale is made and
any success fee is then charged to the Seller. The Seller is legally obliged to
then complete the sale with the successful Buyer. You have no obligation to sell
if the top bid was below the reserve price.
6. While you remain the Seller, www.bid4hay.com, LLC is not the agent in any transaction.
How to Create
a Listing:
1. Decide whether you want to list as an Auction or as a Classified Advertisement.
2. Decide on the Category and Subcategory where the listing best fits.
3. The title must be descriptive to allow searchers to access the key words simply
for the item offered for sale.
4. Determine the Price: whether you are auctioning your item or listing under a
classified you can search www.bid4hay.com to see what similar items are selling
for.
5. Include Photos: good photos, preferably digital, can be uploaded to your listing
to promote your sale.
6. Detailed descriptions are essential to assist the sale. For Hay this includes
the Lot type (Bales or Tons), Lot Size (Quantity selling), Bale Size, Protien %,
TDN%, RFV, and any other specific traits that the market place requires. For other
items include the Brand, Age, and Condition together with any other special features.
7. For Auctions make sure your “finish time” is convenient for the potential Buyers.
Farmers will not sit up all night buying items and watching bids progress.
8. Delivery: Clearly state where the items will be delivered to and who pays for
the delivery from the agreed place of the sale. Record at what point the Buyer becomes
responsible for the items.
9.Payment: Most Buyers can pay through credit cards or direct bank payments. With
some large items and delayed delivery the purchaser may have to provide a bank/solicitor’s
undertaking regarding the settlement. With delayed delivery and settlement a minimum
deposit of 10% is recommended with this payment being deposited in the vendor’s
solicitor’s trust account from which any selling fees payable to “www.bid4hay.com,
LLC” will be made.
10. Promotional Extras: There are a range of promotional extras that will maximize
your selling opportunities. These include preferred listing sites, extra photos,
bolding and others. The promotional extras are for an additional fee and are listed
in the fee schedule. |
